Team Mexicano
Team Mexicano is a padel format where pairs stay together for the whole tournament and the standings decide which pair meets which. It gives you the level matching of a Mexicano without breaking up partners who signed up together.
How it differs from a Mexicano
A normal Mexicano rotates partners every round and scores players individually. Team Mexicano fixes the pairs at the start and scores the pair. Everything else is the same idea: after each round the table is recalculated, and the next round puts pairs of similar standing on the same court.
Because the pair is the unit, a strong duo climbs to the top court and stays there, meeting the other strong pairs. That is usually what people want from a competitive club night.
When to pick it
Pick Team Mexicano when people have entered as couples, when a club runs a partner ladder, or when the evening is billed as competitive rather than social. Pick a plain Mexicano or Americano when the point is to mix the group.
It needs an even number of players, since every pair needs two. PadelLoop blocks an odd count outright rather than starting a tournament that leaves someone without a partner.

What is Team Mexicano in padel?
It is a Mexicano played with fixed pairs. You keep the same partner for the whole tournament, points are scored for the pair rather than the individual, and the standings decide which pair meets which in the next round. The matches tighten as the evening goes on, exactly as in a normal Mexicano, but nobody swaps partners.
Does Team Mexicano need an even number of players?
Yes. Every pair needs two players, so an odd count would leave someone without a partner for the entire tournament rather than for a single round. PadelLoop refuses to start on an odd number and tells you before you have typed in the whole roster, which is easier than discovering it at the first draw.
Can you choose your own partner in Team Mexicano?
In PadelLoop the pairs are built two by two down the player list in the order you enter them, so you can control who partners whom by typing the names next to each other. If you would rather everyone kept their own partner and played every other pair once, the fixed-teams round robin is the better fit.
Is Team Mexicano the same as Mixicano?
No. Team Mexicano has fixed pairs and no gender rule, so any two players can be a team and they stay together. Mixicano requires one man and one woman in every team but keeps rotating partners each round. The names are close enough that clubs mix them up regularly, so it is worth saying which one you mean on the sign-up sheet.
