How many matches and rounds does a padel round robin have?

With four pairs everyone plays three matches; with six pairs, five. The total grows quickly, pairs × (pairs − 1) ÷ 2, so six pairs is fifteen matches and eight pairs twenty-eight. Check that against your booking before you promise a finish time.

Six pairs give five rounds of three matches, drawn with the circle method so every pair meets every other exactly once. On three courts each round is played at once. On two courts the third match of every round waits for a free court, so you need ten match slots rather than five.

When the pair count is odd, one pair sits out each round, and the method spreads those byes evenly: five pairs play five rounds, and each pair rests once.

Which match format should you choose?

For a club evening, pick one set or a pro set to 8 games; best of three is for a weekend. Unlike the social formats, a round robin in PadelLoop lets you pick how a match is actually played: the set structure and the rule at deuce, each on its own. For a club evening one set or a pro set keeps the schedule honest: six pairs on three courts playing one set is five rounds of about 30 minutes, two and a half hours. The tool also checks that the score you type could have finished a match in that format, so 6–5 in a one-set match, or a level score, is flagged instead of reaching the table.

How is the round robin table ranked?

A win is worth 2 table points. Pairs level on points are separated by their difference, counted in the unit you enter for the format: sets for best of three, games for one set or a pro set, and points for a super tie-break. If that is level too, the total scored decides, and finally the name.

Only complete, legal results count, so a match that is half entered never moves the table. Decide in advance what happens if two pairs finish level at the top, and say it at the briefing.

What to know before you start

Teams are built two by two down the player list in the order you enter them, so type partners next to each other. It needs an even number of players: PadelLoop refuses to start a round robin on an odd count rather than leaving the last player without a partner all night.

One limit worth planning around: the round robin keeps its table on the organiser's own screen. The hall screen and the share link work for the social formats and King/Queen of the Court, and the CSV export for the social formats, not for this one yet. Padel round robin: common questions

How many matches is a padel round robin?

Pairs × (pairs − 1) ÷ 2 in total. 4 pairs play 6 matches, 3 each; 6 pairs play 15, 5 each; 8 pairs play 28, 7 each. Each round has one match per two pairs, so 6 pairs need 3 courts to play a round at once. With fewer courts, every round is played in waves.

How long does a padel round robin take?

About 2 hours 30 minutes for 6 pairs on 3 courts playing one set each: 5 rounds of roughly 30 minutes. Best of three sets with golden point is closer to 75 minutes a round, so the same field needs over 6 hours. On fewer courts, each round runs in waves and the evening grows.

How do you break a tie in a round robin?

PadelLoop gives 2 points for a win, then separates level pairs on their difference in sets, games or points, then on the total scored, then by name. Agreeing the order in advance matters more than which rule you pick: a tie at the top is common, so agree on a deciding super tie-break if two pairs are level for first.

Round robin or knockout for a club night?

Round robin, almost always. In a knockout half the field is out after the first match, which is a poor result for a social evening people paid to attend. Use a knockout when you have a large field, a title to decide and little court time, or play groups followed by a playoff to get both.
